What can AMRC members do to ensure the EU Data Protection Regulation does not stop valuable health research?

MEPs have agreed changes to the EU Data Protection Regulation which could hinder health research across Europe. But this isn't the end of the process; the Regulation will now be discussed by MEPs, the Council and Commission offering further opportunities to make changes.

In 40 years, the three per cent survival rate of the UK’s fifth biggest cancer killer has not changed. This is why we focus on early diagnosis. We are a small charity with a huge voice shouting about much needed change for pancreatic cancer, and are passionately committed to affecting real change. Founded by a survivor who proves that there is hope, early diagnosis is achievable and survival is possible, our focus is on ensuring that patients are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at a stage that gives them the best chance of survival.

Bowel & Cancer Research makes grants across the UK to support medical research into bowel cancer and other chronic bowel conditions. It supports early stage work through a small grants programme intended to help researchers generate high quality data for major funding bids and encourages the next generation of scientific researchers via a PhD studentship programme. It focuses its grant making to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of bowel cancer and other chronic bowel diseases.
