What can AMRC members do to ensure the EU Data Protection Regulation does not stop valuable health research?

MEPs have agreed changes to the EU Data Protection Regulation which could hinder health research across Europe. But this isn't the end of the process; the Regulation will now be discussed by MEPs, the Council and Commission offering further opportunities to make changes.

Purpose 
In 40 years, the three per cent survival rate of the UK’s fifth biggest cancer killer has not changed. This is why we focus on early diagnosis. We are a small charity with a huge voice shouting about much needed change for pancreatic cancer, and are passionately committed to affecting real change. Founded by a survivor who proves that there is hope, early diagnosis is achievable and survival is possible, our focus is on ensuring that patients are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at a stage that gives them the best chance of survival.

The Nutrition Society is a scientific society promoting nutrition and dietetics research via our five peer reviewed journals, academic textbooks, scientific conferences and training workshops. The Society was established in 1941 at the height of World War Two 'to advance the scientific study of nutrition and its application to the maintenance of human and animal health'. That remains our mission today. Highly regarded by the scientific community, the Nutrition Society has grown to be the largest learned society for nutrition in Europe.

The Macular Society is a national charity dedicated to finding a cure for macular disease and supporting people with it. We fund medical research and offer free information and support to anyone affected by macular conditions - the cause of half of all registered sight loss in the UK. Our 16,000 members make us the biggest patient group in the sight loss sector and the voice of people with macular disease. There are around 300 Macular Society groups around the UK and beyond.
