Today is Rare Disease Day - that's for diseases that affect fewer than 5 in 10,000 people. The Department of Health has launched proposals for a UK plan for rare diseases to improve services, treatment and support for people with rare diseases. The plan is open for consultation until 25 May.
Adam Afriyie asked a couple of interesting parliamentary questions about progress on the Life Sciences Strategy and recommendations to improve innovation in the NHS (announced on 5 December). The answers outline what's been done so far to put some of these plans into action.
